If you're utilizing a cloud infrastructure provider outside of AWS, GCP, or Azure, such as OpenTelekom or Hetzner, manual inventory management is necessary. But don't worry, Secfix has got you covered with tools and features to streamline this process. Follow this step-by-step guide to keep your assets documented correctly.

Step 1: Prepare Your Asset Details

Before anything else, gather all the necessary details about your assets from your OpenTelekom, Hetzner, or other cloud service provider’s platform.

Cloud assets are resources and services hosted in a cloud environment that organizations use to build, manage, and deploy applications and workloads. They encompass a range of elements including:

  1. Computing Resources such as virtual machines and containers.

  2. Storage Services that store data in various formats, including object, file, and block storage.

  3. Databases that store and manage data, including SQL and NoSQL databases.

  4. Networking Resources like Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and Content Delivery Networks (CDN) to facilitate secure and efficient data transfer.

  5. Application Services, which are cloud-based software solutions, including SaaS and PaaS.

  6. Identity and Access Management (IAM) tools to manage user access and secure cloud environments.

  7. API Endpoints for integrating with other services and facilitating automation.

  8. Content and Media Services for managing and delivering multimedia content.

  9. Analytics and Machine Learning services to derive insights from data and build intelligent applications.

Step 2: Use the Secfix Template

We have crafted a handy Secfix template to assist you in organizing your asset details correctly. Download it and input all the requisite data in the designated columns. This way, you're setting the stage for a hassle-free import process!

You'll find this template under Inventory > Custom Assets.

Now, let's move those details into your Secfix inventory:

  1. Head over to the Inventory

  2. Find and click on the Import Assets option

  3. Upload the populated Secfix template. You can also choose to import an already existing file and match the columns accordingly in the tool

Step 4: Verification and Fine-Tuning

Ensure everything looks just right:

  • Review for any potential discrepancies or errors

  • Upload the Assets

  • Confirm all assets have been uploaded correctly

  • Make adjustments if necessary to ensure data accuracy
