TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) was established in 2017 through a collaboration between the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the ENX Association. This initiative was designed to standardize information security assessments within the automotive industry, particularly for service providers and suppliers.

The Role of VDA and ENX Association in TISAX

  • VDA's Contribution: The VDA, representing German automotive manufacturers and their supply chain, identified the need for a unified standard to ensure information security across the industry. TISAX was developed as a response to this need, providing a framework for assessing and exchanging information security audits.

  • ENX Association's Support: The ENX Association, known for facilitating secure data exchange within the automotive industry, partnered with the VDA to implement TISAX. The ENX Association oversees the accreditation of TISAX test service providers and ensures the integrity of the assessment process.

How TISAX Works

  • TISAX Test Service Providers: These are third-party auditors accredited by the ENX Association to conduct TISAX assessments. They evaluate companies against the TISAX standards, ensuring that participants meet the required information security criteria.

  • Assessment and Exchange: TISAX allows for the standardized assessment of information security practices and facilitates the secure exchange of assessment results among participants. This process helps in reducing audit redundancies and fostering trust within the automotive supply chain.

Importance of TISAX in the Automotive Industry

TISAX plays a critical role in ensuring that suppliers and service providers in the automotive industry adhere to a recognized standard of information security. By providing a transparent and reliable mechanism for assessing and sharing information security statuses, TISAX helps in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information throughout the supply chain.
